WEST AUSTRALIAN OPERA
Season Imagery 2019
West Australian Opera (WAO) is the principal opera company of Western Australia and is a resident company at His Majesty’s Theatre Perth. The company draws from the principal canon of operatic repertoire and increasingly is involved in the commissioning and development of new operas. It has a strong education program and is involved with many concerts and community events in metropolitan and regional Western Australia.
In 2019, West Australian Opera performances put three blood types under the microscope and were looking for a suite of images that work independently yet unite to reflect these.
West Australian Opera approached CHARD International to create the framework for their season imagery incorporating the international opera singers that would play the leading roles. CHARD managed the photographic and post production process leading a path to the end illustrations that we then rolled out across all marketing collateral.
SEASON 1 – La Traviata explores the blood sign of approaching death through a woman
who has taken wrong path” / “fallen” woman.
SEASON 2 – Sweeney Todd explores the price taken in bloody revenge for past wrongs,
a dark path, filled with revenge and bloodshed.
SEASON 3 - Macbeth The blood stain which can never be rubbed clean. Macbeth loses
his way and Lady Macbeth loses her mind.
